This book was originally published in 1926 as The Animal Etiquette Book. It is a collection of rhymes encouraging gentile behaviour through the use of poems about animals which certainly need lessons in how to behave in polite society! Everything from children being seen and not heard, to how to eat your food from remembering your manners and keeping yourself clean and tidy – these and more are all in this book which has the original beautifully detailed black line drawings of the animal characters from the poems. The poetic style is appropriate for its original published date and the poems could easily be used to promote appropriate etiquette but I’m unsure how much these would appeal to children as a poetry book for them to enjoy and explore independently.

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.
