Tracy Crosswire still doesn’t believe the evidence given at the trial of Edmund House for the murder of her sister, Sarah, was the truth and she won’t listen to advice from others to leave things alone. Sarah disappeared twenty years ago and Tracy still wants to know the truth about what happened to Sarah, whose body was not found at that time. Tracy has been collecting evidence for all those years trying to discover the truth, so much so that she gave up teaching to become a homicide detective with the Seattle Police Department, tracking down killers for her living.
When Sarah’s remains are found, Tracy is determined to find out what happened to her. By doing this Tracy uncovers evidence, gets help from an childhood friend who knew both girls and is now a lawyer and puts everyone involved into danger.
This is a brilliantly told story of sisterly love determined to find the truth and real justice for a beloved sister, regardless of the danger inherent in opening up the past in this manner. The characters well portrayed, warts and all, in a manner that makes them truly believable. The plot is totally engaging and highly entertaining. You are given clues throughout that enable you to foresee some things but then there are twists and turns that throw you off the scent again. This is a roller coaster ride, totally enthralling, fantastically written and a tremendous treat for any fans of crime and murder stories, an exceptionally great book. I’ll certainly be looking out for other books by this author!
