Braylon is a Criminal Investigator, a marine who has served in Iraq where his friends and team were all killed by “friendly fire” when one of the team shot them. He killed that soldier.

Sandella’s the only daughter of Kane and Sugar. Her Mum was raped and killed – supposedly by a marine who was never caught or charged. Because of this, she distrusts all marines and really has to fight her attraction to Braylon (but not very hard), especially when he starts investigating what happened to her Mum.

This has a great storyline and is potentially a brilliant story, however some of the choices made just seem out of keeping with the characters – especially the sexual relations between the two main characters. Some reality checks seem to be needed en route in this story. I actually think the story itself is potentially fantastic, but has problems because the character actions don’t always synch with their portrayed beliefs. I will still look out for other books by this author as I quite like her writing style and believe she is capable of writing a really superb book – just miss out the sexual interactions, please!Having submitted to a paternity test and awaiting the results would such a supposedly intelligent, responsible marine really have unprotected sex – especially with someone who hates marines and is acknowledged to be working brilliantly to help his Uncle? Would a woman who has been brought up to hate marines because she really believes one raped and killed her Mum and is a virgin jump into bed with a marine this quickly?

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
