Wow – a superb book, brilliantly written that I have no hesitation in highly recommending to other readers!
It tells the story of Elena who, as a teenager, lost her Mum in the Twin Tower 9/11 disaster. She’s never got over her feelings of guilt and inadequacy after this and has only returned to New York now to help support her sister, who is about to give birth.
This heart wrenching story explores guilt felt by survivors and the relatives of victims. It is superbly told and had me in tears at some points. Characters, their angst, mixed emotions and reactions are portrayed and related in a way which makes them east to empathise and relate to. It is one of the best books I’ve read and I’ll certainly be looking out for other books by this superb author.
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
