Alexandra Haughton was tragically widowed ten years ago and has made her life revolve around running the family owned holiday resort in South Carolina. Her husband’s family own the resort and she’s been a blinkered workaholic, successfully running it, introducing innovations and making it into a now sought after business.
Sterling Powell is another stubborn workaholic, the CEO of the company determined to buy the resort from the family. He turns up unexpectedly early and meets Alexander – and sparks fly! The attraction is mutual but whilst she’s determined to keep her heart out of any affair, he’s wants much more than an affair and sets out to show her just what he means. Will Sterling only be taking over the resort or will he crack through Alexandra’s barricade’s around her heart and win her love, too? There is also another romance between Alexandra’s brother in law and his girlfriend that his twin brother is trying to break up. Will he succeed or will he end up ruing his actions?
I enjoyed the story line, with great robust characters, breaking through obstacles to their goals. Their pasts have impacted on all their lives and influence their behaviour and reactions, helping the reader empathise with them. A great story but for me the details of who touches who, where, when and how in sexual relationships just aren’t necessary but I know others like to read about these, each to their own tastes! Personally I think this had a strong enough storyline not to need this but I really should have gathered it would contain significant elements of this from the title! I’ve read and enjoyed other books by this author and will still continue to look out for others by her. One of these books is reviewed on my blog – Cowboy It’s Cold Outside – click on the title or here to see it.
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read a sample of this book in exchange for an honest review.
