Penemuel (Pen) is a fallen angel who tells through this story about her life as a second war between Heaven and Hell looms. In the beginning she kills mortals so her twin brother, Azael, can reap their souls for Hell but the reappearance of the archangel Michael makes her start questioning her beliefs and actions. Whilst her brother is determined they will continue to serve the demons, Pen realises she does have choices and they are hers to make. Will she choose to continue her life of killing mortals and living in Hell or choose love and Heaven? What about her twin and her relationship with him? So many choices with far reaching implications for her future!

This is a riveting story, full of action and totally enthralling. If you like stories about good v evil, angels v demons, light v dark this is a definitely different but in a great way example of this genre. Don’t assume this is a religious tome, however, it may deal with similar issues and God is mentioned but that is not the crux of the story. The characters are brilliantly portrayed and developed as the story progresses, keeping the reader turning pages wanting to know what happens next. I highly recommend this and look forward to reading other books in the series in the near future.

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review.
