Lyla Wilder is anything but wild! She’s a shy chemistry student in her first year at college who would rather spend her time hiding behind her layers of clothing, scarves and studying with her cat, Einstein, than be partying like most others her age. This is especially true after she and her high school sweetheart decided to break up now they are attending universities so far apart. However, when she hears the male student she’s supposed to be with on a group date asking, “Why’d I get stuck with the ugly, boring one?” she decides to take action!
Hockey player Beck Davenport is a handsome hunk and Lyla’s best friend. There’s never been anything other than friendship between them – they study together, watch movies together and generally relax together. They can be themselves rather than having to act in any silly way. He’s the person she runs to for advice on how to change herself. He’s not sure she needs to change but when she starts creating a ‘College Bucket List’ he agrees to help her – until he finds what number 7 on this list is! That’s when their relationship changes dramatically! Will he risk their friendship to convince her he’s the man to help her achieve her lucky number seven?
I really enjoyed this delightful story, complete with all the fun, obstacles, dilemmas and trauma along the way. If you like chemistry at all, you’ll love some of the jokes! The characters are believable, have lots of baggage from their upbringing which impacts on their behaviour and attitudes and have you hoping they’ll find their happy ever after in the end. A great story of young romance!
