WOW! I certainly didn’t expect such a riveting, enthralling read! This book is well written, with great characters, a superb plot and I can’t wait to read the sequel – please tell me there is going to be one!?! Sorry, I usually start with my version of the blurb but this story was just so good and I wanted to get that in first – everyone, go read it!

In this dystopian world, magic and anyone thought to perform magic is no longer tolerated – they are burnt to death. Witch hunters have the task of locating and arresting anyone thought to be involved in anything to do with magic. Elizabeth is a witch hunter. She became one after her parents died in the plague, leaving her orphaned as a child. She was rescued by Caleb who had also lost his parents. together they went to offer to work for the King. Starting as a scullery maid, Caleb eventually convinced her to become a Witch Hunter with him. Together they’ve captured many magically talented people . . . but things have started going wrong for Elizabeth, so wrong she ends up being arrested and then her adventures begin. You’ll need to read it yourself as she finds out just who she can trust, who she can’t and has several near death experiences!

This is a brilliant story, definitely different and one that I have no hesitation at all in highly recommending. With well written, complex characters, this story is full of twists, turns, deception and danger. A great novel for anyone who enjoys unpredictable, magical mysteries that keep you bewitched from start to finish.

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too,
for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
