Maddie Kingston’s family founded the shoe manufacturing business in their small town more than seventy years ago. Now her father has had a stroke so Maddie has gone back to take over the struggling firm, determined to save it. She discovers that her childhood sweetheart, Nick Holter, has been buying significant numbers of shares in the company. She loved him but he dumped her, cutting her from his life before he became an extremely wealthy and powerful business man rather than the ‘trailer trash’ her Gran had labelled him.

He’s the only one who can help her but a family feud means he’s refusing to meet her. At an auction for the Children’s Hospital, with her sister’s help she bids successfully to win a weekend of his time. She’s taking him back to their home town to remind him of the people he’ll be destroying if he mothballs the company. She wants to share her plans and get him to give her a chance to save the business. Will he listen? Will the family feud prevent her succeeding? What about their still magnetic attraction to each other – will love find a way to give them their own HEA?

This story has strong characters, intriguing family history and plenty of drama, making this a great relaxing read. It is well written, unpredictable at times with a great family secret to be revealed and altogether a great romance to get lost in.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley too,
for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
