This is the fifth book in the series about this loveable rogue! There are fourteen chapters in this story which has lovely illustrations which help bring the events of the story to life. In this adventure, Jasper and his friend Ori decide to be treasure hunters, initially finding such delights as a bottle top and a worm. These initial discoveries, however, don’t put the intrepid duo off, indeed Jasper continues the search at home and uncovers a treasured toy that used to belong to his Dad, Marcel Mouse. The story continues to relate the adventures Jasper John experiences whilst trying to keep Marcel safe – and there are lots of them!
This is well written and engaging for children who find it easy to relate to the adventures and experiences of Jasper John, The illustrations are very apt, adding further to the reader’s enjoyment. It is the sort of story that can easily be read a chapter at a time, so is ideal for children who are ready for longer stories to read just a chapter or so at a time. It is a captivating and amusing read with a relatively simple vocabulary ensuring it is entertaining and accessible for any developing readers who are ready for longer stories.
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
