And this enthralling, action packed science fiction tale continues! It is actually important to read these in the correct order and I’ll try not to give any spoilers away as I discuss this, the third episode in the series. In the first book Aoléon and Gilbert met and he travelled with her to Mars.

Aoléon and Gilbert continue to investigate just what is happening on Mars. This episode has so much in it – more political corruption, other aliens, pilot exams for Aoléon, skyboard training lessons for Gilbert, hidden bases to be discovered and dangers for family and friends to name but a few! As usual this episode is full of twists, turns and unexpected events, keeping the reader engaged throughout and definitely ready and eager to find out what happens next!

Whilst this is aimed at middle grade readers, the language used is not ‘dumbed down’, it uses a variety of appropriate scientific language, refers to real science events (e.g. what happened to the Beagle Mars lander!) which children may then be intrigued enough to investigate further. The illustrations are superb throughout, colourful, detailed and so vivid they seem to come to life on the page.

This is an intriguing series which I have no hesitation in recommending to kids of any age who enjoy science fiction and to anyone who appreciates fantastic artwork. I’m going to read the next episode straight away – can’t wait!

Thanks to the author and publishers for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
