Guess what? The adventure continues! Boy are things getting hot! For adults, much of the scenario is reminiscent of a Martian equivalent of George Orwell’s “1984” with Big Brother watching you and lessons from Yoda in Star Wars! The action picks up a pace as Aoléon and Gilbert learn that the Martians really do intend to invade Earth. There are a few hilarious close encounters on Earth and considerably more danger for our heroic duo as they endeavour to thwart the dastardly plans and save her parents from the secret base where they are being held captive.

The superb illustrations continue to enhance and bring to life scenes from the story. There are also many new Martian organisms to meet – some friendly but others not! Wait till you see their equivalent to horses – or should it be camels? There’s also an addition to the team who may be frightened of flying but is otherwise a real asset! There are some seriously funny moments in this – I loved the message Gilbert sent to NASA – but that’s all I’m saying, you’ll have to read the story to find out how, where and what that involved, so it isn’t a big spoiler, more of a teaser!

Again, this is aimed at middle grade readers but is something that anyone who enjoys science fiction type stories may well enjoy. This is the fourth book in the series and it is important to read them in the correct order. There are five books in total and I can’t wait to see how it all ends!
