Rating 4/5

This is the first in a new science fiction, futuristic adventure series with Caleb and his son, Warren, as the heroes fleeing accusations of murder to begin life far away on a different planet. They crash land there, Caleb is fine but Warren isn’t. They discover this is considerably technologically less advanced society but the people there have other strengths and abilities – including the possible way to save Warren. The story has love interest added through Telai, the first person Caleb meets on the planet, paranormal interest through her clairvoyant powers, dilemma through Caleb swearing to protect her people then discovering they have a possible cure for his son through an ancient talisman but that could be detrimental to their society and so much more….

The author takes the reader from the science fiction of space travel to a world from history, one with loves, wisdom and traditions. There are maps and a glossary to aid the reader, something that e-book readers may benefit from learning about before they read the book as these help explain just who is who in this new world society. There are adventures to be had, relationships to explore and changes to be made in this story which has well rounded, complex characters and is a steady paced start to the trilogy, providing a well described backdrop and setting the scene for the following two novels in this intriguing new trilogy.

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys science fiction adventures with a taste of mythology, folklore and romance thrown in for good measure!

Thanks to the author, publisher and Booklover Catlady Publicity for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.
