This is a paranormal battle and romance in a new to me world though as this is the second novel in the series.

There are humans in this world and Myren. The Myren live in Eden and they have a range of paranormal abilities and they are ruled by a king, Eryx and his wife, Lexi, the romance for whom was apparently the focus of the first novel. The Myren are having problems because there is a rebellion, led by Maxis who wants to be King instead of Eryx.

The focus of this story is Reese, the half brother of Maxis – though Maxis doesn’t know this! With a third species, the spiritu entering the battle, nothing will be the same again. Reese has loved Eryx’s sister, Galena, from afar for years but said and done nothing. When she heals him in battle they connect. This is fraught with difficulties as Reece is, reluctantly, fighting for the rebellion and she supports her brother.Maybe the truth is the only thing that can save them all?

An intriguing tale of good v evil and, although it took some getting into initially because I hadn’t read the earlier novel, it still works as a standalone in the end. I have to say that I loved the ending though things still aren’t all sorted and I can’t wait to have an opportunity to read the next book in this series and see how things work out further! It is well written, flows well and has plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader reeling and wondering what on earth could happen next!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.
