Whilst I have read and thoroughly enjoyed other books by this author but this is my first story from this series – and I have to say it was another great read from this highly talented author! It is a brilliant paranormal, shapeshifter novella with death, danger and destruction endangering any possibility of a ‘happily ever after’ ending. . . .

Juliana Duffy runs the local flower shop. She was prevented from following her dream to be a concert pianist after an explosion left her deaf but she’s still a very positive character though her prophetic dreams are warning her of impending death and show both Colin and Benedict have a role to play in events – even before she has met either of them.

Colin Flynn is a night walker, only able to go out at night, a hawk shapeshifter who feeds on blood and is a Mayan god with the job of protecting mortals. He has returned to his home in Ireland seriously injured after an encounter with a demon which left his left arm/wing seriously weakened so he can no longer fly. Whilst he was away an ancient foe has been gaining power and killing young women. Benedict is handsome, charming and regularly pops into Juliana’s shop to purchase five red roses.

When Juliana meets both of her dream characters she’s unsure who is in danger or the roles they have to play. Should she trust either of them? To find out what happens you’ll just have to read it yourself!

All the lead characters have their own difficulties to overcome for them to have any chance of achieving that much sought after HEA. They are so well characterised that it is easy to empathise and relate to them. This is a superb story of overcoming difficulties when the odds are stacked against you, staying positive and achieving your full potential in life and living. I really enjoyed it so will be looking out for other books in this series in future but will point out that this isn’t the first book in the series but still worked excellently as a standalone.

I highly recommend this great novella to anyone who, like me, enjoys reading enthralling, well written, paranormal, romantic adventures!
