Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!
Kelsie Reed is over bad luck and bad men. Newly dumped, she’s now the pathetically single maid of honor in her sister’s wedding—and her ex is the best man. But then a plumbing meltdown in her apartment sends her sexy neighbor running to her rescue. He’s got “serial dater” written all over him, which is unfortunate because the man is hot.
Sawyer Chase loves women, but settling down? He’ll leave that to his brothers, thank you very much. But when Kelsie confesses she’s a dating disaster and is about to become the laughing stock of her family wedding, Sawyer takes control. He’s got one week to teach her how to land the man of her dreams, and he’ll do it on her terms: no touching, no kissing, and definitely nothing more.
But some rules need to be broken, especially when, for once, there’s something on the line worth fighting for…
Now I’ve read several books by this author already and really liked the sound of this one, so I jumped at the chance to read an ARC of this one. I’m so glad I did! It is a delightful, fun read with great characters fighting their attraction to each other. The lessons set off with the intention of her finding someone else but their attraction really means neither wants her to find anyone else, even if they are fighting it.
The story is packed with fun moments and lots of rule breaking. The characters are believable, charismatic and easy to empathise with because of the brilliant writing style of the author. It was great to have a romance evolving rather than being instant lust, the plot enhanced the reader’s participation in the story, taking them on the journey with the main characters and providing lots of humorous interludes on their roller coaster journey to romance.
Sawyer sets off as a philanderer who is unlikely to ever settle down but he became really cute and possessive but fighting it as the story progressed, As for Kelsie – well I really hope she learns how to cook!
This is a superbly entertaining read with brilliant banter, imaginative interventions, definitely different dates and an enchanting epilogue. Would I recommend it? Well, if you’ve not guessed yet that I totally enjoyed this, I’ll just make it clear and state that this is highly recommended to anyone who enjoys romances that develop with plenty of angst, humour and laughs en route to a well earned HEA. This is a great addition to the Chase Brothers series and I’m looking forward to reading more about them in future!
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for gifting me an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Sarah and her husband of what he calls “many long, long years” live on the mid-Atlantic coast with their six young children, all of whom are perfectly adorable when they’re asleep. She never dreamed of becoming an author, but as a homeschooling mom, she often jokes she writes fiction because if she wants anyone to listen to her, she has to make them up. As it turns out, her characters aren’t much better than the kids, but nevertheless, you’ll find her writing sexy contemporary romance for Entangled Publishing until they throw her out.
