My Review:

This is a delectable read, a great Regency story to escape into, packed with intrigue, daring and, of course, romance!

The heroine is the youngest child of the family – her youngest sibling is fifteen years older than her. She’s always felt an outsider even in her own family, only the butler and housekeeper have consistently cared for her. She was a tall, gangly young lady, liable to trip or knock things over, but always loyal, caring and considerate. He has been part of a loving family and tends to treat Sarah as another sister – until they are forced to marry. How the romance develops between them whilst they investigate another member of the aristocracy is brilliantly and endearingly portrayed. The undercover spying they undertake, determined to uncover the truth by solving a series of clues left in a poem makes this so much more than a simple regency romance and a more entertaining read.

I seem to have read quite a few Regency romances lately and this is definitely one of the best – a delightfully written, enthralling story that I have no hesitation in highly recommending!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

London, 1814

Sarah Jardin has been quite dreadfully in love with David Rochester her whole life. As the youngest of five daughters, her family and society neglect her. She’s outspoken, brash, and terribly ungraceful. In short, not at all a lady…until she’s taken under the benevolent wing of Lady Lancaster and invited to join the Young Ladies Garden Society.

But Sarah’s new life—filled with the mysteries and intrigues of high society—is interrupted by an unexpected scandal. Her scandal. In a moment of kindness, David comforts her…and they are discovered and forced to marry. Even as the newlyweds must come to terms with their new arrangement, they find themselves drawn into the investigation of a dangerous conspiracy.

With life and love on the line, their unexpected marriage will either end in rapture…or ruin.
