My Review:
This certainly lives up to its description as a psychological thriller! It is a superb tale of heartbreak, deceit, double crossing, kidnapping, blackmail and so much more mixed together into an enthralling tale by a skilled wordsmith.
The characters are rarely as they initially seem. The plot has more twists and tangles than you could imagine! From the start the reader is immersed into the action packed scenarios. There are surprise revelations occurring throughout the story as the convoluted plot progresses and the final one is – wow! Talking about never really knowing someone even if you live with them has nothing on that one.
It is a real page turner, though I admit the Prologue initially had me wary about what I was about to read. The plot is full of intrigue and suspense, the discoveries often adding to the mystery rather than solving it. It isn’t a happy tale, being full of heartbreak and grief from the past and present, but it is a very moving story and a riveting read. Some of the character reactions seemed weird – until you read the ending and suddenly all becomes so much clearer, so persevere and be ready to be shocked!
If you’re not looking to be cheered up and you enjoy well crafted psychological thrillers, this is one you really shouldn’t miss!
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.
