My Review:

Everyone needs a friend like Mikey in their lives! He’s kind, considerate, loyal and puts the happiness of those he cares for above that of himself. . . .

This is told from the alternating points of view of Mikey and his flat mate and best friend, Jasmine (Jazz). When her boyfriend makes a real mess of proposing to her (now come on, being sick during the process, no ring and some of what he said was beyond the pale!), the only person who can help get the two back together again before she goes off to a new job in New York. Meanwhile Mikey is going through the trauma of unrequited love . . . That’s the scenario before the fun, misunderstanding, fun, disasters, fun and yet more fun all start and just keep on going!

This is packed with cliche moments, hilarious incidents, great characters and two love stories – and all this despite it being a novella. Coincidentally, Mikey has a Diner (the coincidence being that there was a diner in the last novel that I read, A Home in Sunset Bay by Rebecca Pugh). There are quite a few twists in this tale and some surprises in the end. I admit I had initially assumed some things would happen but was totally wrong, what happened was much better! I found Mikey very easy to relate to but didn’t find Jazz as easy. She has an abusive past which is detrimentally impacting on her attitudes and assumptions concerning the behaviour of some other characters. Mikey, however, makes everything right for everyone and you just have to hope his own HEA works out well for him, too.

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

Meet Mikey, every girl’s best friend – he bakes the creamiest cheesecake, loves movie nights and is a great dance partner.

For Jasmine, Mikey is the perfect flatmate – he owns a 50s diner that turns out the best food around, gives the best bear hugs and amazing romance advice – after all they’re scoping out the same hot guys! So when her boyfriend proposes in the worst possible way, Jazz knows her best friend will be there to pick up the pieces with gourmet popcorn, Pinot sleepovers and a shoulder to lean on.

But Mikey isn’t about to let Jasmine give up on love, and he’s ready to do whatever it takes to mend her broken heart – even if it means helping the one person who sees him as the enemy…

Because at the end of the day, all’s fair in the pursuit of true love… right?
