A really enjoyable story, I highly recommend this!

Kate is an up and coming lawyer who has her life planned out for herself . . . She’s making a name for herself, thinks she’s about to be offered a partnership in the firm of top lawyers she works for . . . she wants to become a judge and show all those snobs that looked down on her that she really does count. A very bright student, she has a scholarship that enabled her to study at a private school where her ‘trailer trash’ background was really looked down on by some of the parents of other pupils there. She has been going out with Michael for three years until he was unable to stand up for himself and gave in to parental pressure to find a ‘more suitable’ class of girl friend. When she finds out that Michael is engaged she hints that she’s found someone else, too. This leads on to more people wanting to meet her new significant other – who really is only a figment of her imagination, but it is amazing where your imagination can lead…

Dominic Sorensen’s aunt lives next door to Kate. At the moment he is working with his family construction firm, though he hopes to become more involved in renovating and creating homes. His aunt suggests that Kate should get him to renovate her home and, after struggling to find anyone else, Kate sets him on. This leads to him also agreeing to be Kate’s boyfriend, in exchange for Kate doing some pro bono work to help his sister, Daisy. Should be a great win – win situation for them both, shouldn’t it? Chemistry, however, has its own rules and gets in on the act! Will they both succumb or will previous ambitions get in the way?

The characters are robustly created, believable humans who have all the trauma and angst of past relationships impacting on their present and future ideals. They are easy to relate to and the story is a sweet, delicious read, great to escape into!

Thanks to the author and publishers, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.
