Title: Sleeping with the Opposition by JK Coi
Author: JK Coi
Publishers: Entangled Indulgence, Entangled Publishing
Date of Publication: May 2nd, 2016
This is a very different romance, one which starts with a married couple, Leo and Brianna Markham. They are both lawyers with enviable reputations who used to work together as well but now although they are still living in their marital home but no longer together. They were having a child together but then, tragically, Bria had a miscarriage which also almost cost her life, too. Their inability to talk to each other means they’ve faced their grief in very different ways, pushing them apart even though they are still very much in love. Her childhood memories of her Mum and step father after multiple miscarriages have made her determined to separate from Leo but he’s also determined to do all he can to win her back . . . Lack of communication is at the heart of their problems.
This is a heart breaking story with many true tear jerking moments, with powerful emotive writing ensuring the reader is totally immersed in this struggle to find love and life again after their tragic loss. The author makes it easy to empathise with both Leo and Bria, taking the reader with them on this emotional roller coaster. Although definitely not a story to read when you want cheering up, this is superb and very different story – with a delightful ending after all the angst showing that persevering and working through the turmoil is definitely well worth it in the end.
Thanks to the publishers for gifting me an ARC of this novel, via NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review.
Leo Markham has everything a man could want. Money. Power. Respect. But there’s only one thing he needs—Bria. The trouble is, she’s determined to move on, despite the breathtaking passion still between them. Sure, he’s made mistakes, but he’ll make her forgive him. He has to.
Shocked to find herself facing her devastatingly gorgeous ex as opposing counsel in the courtroom, Bria knows she can’t let Leo hurt her again. He’s the only man she’ll ever love, but he wasn’t there when she needed him most. She’s just going to have to learn to resist the pull of his lethal magnetism.
Leo is determined to win Bria back no matter what it takes. He isn’t about to lose the only woman who’s ever had his heart.
