My Review:

Delaney Harper has a lot to prove – or so she thinks! All her elder brothers, her father and grandfather are engineers and so is she. She has been successful in her job but still feels the need to prove herself, especially to her parents, who she believes just want her to follow the lead of her mother and female relatives by getting married, having children and being a housewife, not a career woman and certainly not an engineer! Now, however, she has the opportunity she’d been dreaming of. Her boss has food poisoning and she’s managed to arrange things so she’ll be the one giving the presentation at a highly prestigious and important trade show . . . if only she can convince the CEO of the firm who she’d never met before.

The CEO is Aidan Ross and he’s definitely an engineering genius but comparatively useless at interactions with people. Delaney proves to be a feisty, very independent, bubbly and determined young lady, obviously a talented engineer and skilled software developer but also a huge temptation! As the attraction between the two heats up, the journey to the venue is just going to be so much harder for the Ice Man to cope!

This has a predictable outcome but the journey there explores the impact of tragic loss and  insecure teen years as well as living up to the expectations you believe others have of you. It is a battle of the sexes with him trying to be the gentleman whilst she strives to be treated as an equal. The characters are complex, the plot has enough twists to keep the reader engaged and the writing style takes you in to enjoy escaping into the story. Definitely an enjoyable story for anyone who enjoys the heroine to be the antithesis of a needy, snivelling, desperate to be married female whilst the male is a gentleman, strong, successful but with flaws…

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read this in exchange for my honest review.

Aidan Ross might be an engineering genius, but people skills? Not this soldier’s forte. Thankfully, a trusted friend is accompanying him to a make-or-break tradeshow…but then a bubbly redhead hops into his truck, claiming to be his new road trip buddy. She’s a gorgeous distraction he can’t afford. Or ignore.

Delaney Harper comes from a family of engineers—male engineers. With several impressive projects under her belt, she’s on a mission to prove she can hang with the big boys, too. But cracking the sexy, closed-off CEO is tougher than she expects…and hotter than she could have imagined.

With the tempting woman disrupting his carefully planned schedule, Aidan can’t focus on the road, much less their upcoming presentation. The future of his company is riding on this trip, and if they’re to land a huge account, he has to keep his head—and his heart—in the game…
