My Review:

This is the fifth book in the Canyon Cove series and I haven’t read any of the earlier ones but I don’t believe that detracted from my ability to enjoy this novella. It is a fast paced friends to more romance, one where everyone else believes the two best friends are capable of being much more to each other but the couple themselves are slow and reticent to take a chance on love in case it has a detrimental effect on their friendship.

Gideon Kohl comes across as something of a man-whore. He has a history of always falling in love with his current girl friend and the only constant young female in his life is his best friend, Becca Draven. He tells her everything, she’s his sounding board, the person to whom he turns when troubled and when celebrating. That actually means she’s known him through his best and worst times and, whilst still his best friend, she is understandably very reluctant to trust him with her heart even though she’s attracted to him. Should they give love a chance? Is love worth risking when they seem perfect together as friends? Most of all what does it mean when you’re asked out on a non-date with a potential love?

This is a fast paced novella which immerses the reader in the Canyon Cove community from the start. There are side stories as well as the main romance, with Becca’s friend Sandra’s angst packed, drama filled relationship being the leading subsidiary story. I liked how the main characters discover that they need to change their own attitudes and behaviour in order for them to be happy and they are prepared to make the effort to do so. I found it frustrating at times but overall it was an enjoyable novella to escape into and worked well as a standalone. I’ll be endeavouring to check out more from this series in future (once I’ve got my to be read pile considerably lower!)

Many thanks to the author, and Bewitching Book Tours, too, for giving me free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Synopsis:

“Have you ever thought about being more than friends?”

Becca Draven’s life has changed in ways she never imagined. She has a job she loves and a wonderful group of friends, even if they keep telling her she needs a boyfriend. The last thing Becca wants is a man in her life. All they do is complicate things. Besides, she already has one – her best friend Gideon.

Gideon Kohl is an architect on the rise and after several high-profile projects, everyone wants a piece of him. He’s always loved being the center of attention, but lately there’s only one person he cares to be around – his best friend Becca. And with his brother Gabriel telling him they’re perfect together, Gideon can’t help but see Becca in a different light.

Can friends turn into lovers?

While Perfect Together is a standalone romance, it takes place after the events of Canyon Cove #1, Playing Games (available for FREE).
