My Review:

This is a brilliant, laugh out loud novel that is definitely well worth taking a chance on! Following the tragic death of her daughter five years ago grief drove Charilie and her husband apart and, after ten years of marriage, they divorced. Being single again doesn’t come easy for Charlie but one evening she and her best friend Mercedes create Carpe Diem lists of what they’d really like to do, sort of a bucket list but just for the year. Mercedes then takes both lists and challenges Charlie to do every activity on the list that Mercedes wrote – most of which take hospital radio presenter well out of her comfort zone!

Get ready for hilarious moments as Charlie tries out many different things she’d never previously dreamed of doing! I’m giggling just thinking about the food challenge, her belly dancing lessons and the misunderstandings between her and Jake! Their initial meetings include when she’s crawling around on the floor pretending to be a pig . . . go on, you’ll have to read it to learn why! His support is key to helping her achieve so many of the challenges which actually make Charlie face and strive to overcome some of her biggest fears. It is an inspirational story running through the whole gamut of emotions and explores them showing how a positive attitude, resilience and perseverance can help achieve so much.

The story has some fantastic, highly memorable characters, one of the best being Bert (who isn’t human!). It also explores some difficult scenarios but I really don’t want to say more as that would be giving spoilers away and that’s something I try to avoid. However, suffice it to say that this isn’t a straightforward romance. It is an engaging and very entertaining read with some surprising twists, mystery, suspense and danger as well as more than one romantic relationship being developed, all sprinkled with a healthy dose of fun and laughter in a brilliant heart warming tale that I have no hesitation in highly recommending.

I was gifted a copy of this book by the publishers, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

A hilarious heart-warming read about friendship, taking chances and finding love, second time round.

When Charlie’s husband leaves after ten years of marriage, her spirits hit an all-time low. She just isn’t sure how to pick herself up again. So, best friend Mercedes makes it her mission to put a spring back in Charlie’s step with the perfect bucket list.

As Charlie takes a chance and bungee jumps and belly dances her way through an array of adventures, her love life also begins to look up and she’s soon enjoying a few dates as a newly single woman. She begins to realise that finding romance, might not be so hard, especially when you’ve got someone like journalist Jake who has an adorable little boy and is very easy on the eye.

But is Jake too good to be true? As Charlie’s challenges on the bucket list get bigger, so do her questions about Jake. Should she continue to hold out for the fairy-tale? Or should she take a chance on Jake and hope for a happy ending?

A witty romantic read perfect for fans of Carole Matthews and Debbie Johnson.
