My Review:
I had a dilemma when it came to reviewing this box set . . . should I review each novella in turn or comment on them as a whole? As you’ll have now discovered, in the end I decided to do the one review. Each novella in the set is like a jigsaw piece, an intricate piece which slots in seamlessly to add detail and help create the whole picture. This is definitely a set where I believe it is important to read the stories in order. They each tell their own story of a Scottish Werebear and their mate, how they meet, what goes wrong, how things are resolved to put it simply (though they’re all much more interesting and dynamic than that bland explanation). Each of these romances reveals further details about the on-going conflict between the isolationists who seek to keep each species ‘pure’ and those who have a more tolerant attitude towards anyone who finds their mate isn’t another werebear. This dilemma is the thread running and developing throughout the novellas, with many characters having key roles in most books.
It is great getting to know the characters over a longer time period than their single novella, making them more developed and adding intrigue to the whole set. Should each species strive for isolation from humans and other weres? Is secrecy really the best option? What might revealing their existence mean to weres and humans? Does love really happen across species? So many questions, so many beliefs and historical anecdotes to influence them. To discover how things work out, you’ll just have to read it yourself!
There are an additional three Christmas novellas in the box set as characters mentioned or met  in the first three novellas go to theMcMillan farm for the festive season. These are each delightful festive reads and add further to the storyline as the werebears, humans and a lone werewolf celebrate together, bringing further insights into the family dynamics and resolving some of the issues which arose in the first three novellas.
You’ve just got to love these strong, caring and independent loner alphas who change their attitudes completely when meeting their mates. The whole box set is a pleasure to escape into and I have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance with political intrigue adding extra spice to the events and characters.
Many thanks to the author and IndieSage PR for gifting me an ARC of this box set in exchange for my honest review.
Scottish Werebears: An Unexpected Affair
When romance novelist, Clarice Adler, hides herself away in a secluded holiday cottage to finish a book, the last thing she needs is another relationship. Imagine her surprise when she falls head over heels for the man who runs the place. Derek McMillan knows Clarice is his mate, but he’s a bear shifter and she’s human and the two simply don’t mix. They are literally worlds apart; can they find a way to come together?
Scottish Werebears: A Dangerous Business
As part of the Alliance, bear shifter Aidan McMillan is hunting the Sons of Domnall, a secret society of humans sworn to destroy all shifters. Along comes Heidi Blackwood, his fated mate, and it suddenly becomes nearly impossible to focus on the job.

Scottish Werebears: A Forbidden Love
Alison Campbell has been told that shifters are evil and the world would be a better place without them. In her efforts to infiltrate the Alliance to gather intel for The Sons of Domnall, she comes across Jamie Abbott, bear shifter and Alliance leader, who doesn’t seem so bad at all. In fact, he seems to be all her heart desires and the feeling is mutual. Where will her loyalties lie when it becomes time to pick a side once and for all?

Scottish Werebears: A New Beginning
Ever since developing delusions about turning into a bear at the most inopportune moments, Matt Argyle has been keeping to himself. When curvaceous beauty Leah Hudson moves in next door, suddenly his carefully orchestrated life becomes unsustainable. He feels compelled to get to know her, and in the process must learn some important truths about himself.

Scottish Werebears: A Painful Dilemma
Henry Weston is a good man, and a good Alliance agent. But when he is ordered to spy on his own people, he knows he must rebel. He finds the perfect partner in Gail McPherson when they connect in a way only true mates can. There’s only one problem: Henry already has a mate whom he refuses to abandon.werebear-a-painful-dilemma-teaser

Scottish Werebears: A Second Chance
Journalist Charlie McAllister watches the New Alliance reveal itself on live TV and can’t believe her eyes; one of the shifters looks so familiar… Could that really be her friend James, whom she grew up next door to? The same James she had the biggest crush on, but who disappeared on her after they shared their first and only kiss? The void he left behind in her heart still aches, still she vows to track him down for an exclusive interview.

Sugar & Spice: A Scottish Werebear Xmas

Meet up again with the couples from the first three Scottish Werebears books in this feel-good Christmas special. This anthology contains three short stories written from the perspective of various previous and new characters as they celebrate the holidays together. Please note this book contains spoilers for previous titles.

Clarice is organizing the perfect Christmas party and everyone’s invited to spend the holidays at McMillan farm with her and Derek. But something feels wrong and she can’t put her finger on what it could be. Meanwhile, Derek is only going along with Clarice’s plan because he wants to make her happy, but the McMillan brothers haven’t celebrated Christmas ever since the death of their parents fifteen years ago. Perhaps it’s time to leave the past behind and start a new family tradition?

Alliance members Aidan, Heidi, and Jamie are travelling to McMillan farm for Christmas along with Jamie’s mate, Alison. When they realize their colleague Kyle is going to be left on his own over the holidays, they convince him to tag along at the last minute. He grudgingly accepts the invite, but soon changes his tune when after their arrival he is introduced to Lily, Clarice’s best friend, who just happens to be the unnamed woman he had spent a single night with months earlier…

Heidi feels like the odd one out. In a mixed company of humans and bears, she’s the only wolf and also the only one who has never actually celebrated Christmas before. Can she let go of her reservations and get into the swing of things?
This collection of short stories is best enjoyed after reading the first three books in the Scottish Werebears series.

This boxset contains all six novellas in the steamy Scottish Werebears shifter romance series; each book features a different alpha bear and his fated mate and includes plenty of sizzling action, irresistible attraction and a happy ending for the couple, while the overarching plot of the series continues. Shifter fans love this series! One-click now to find out what all the fuss is about.
