Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!
Series: A Java Jive Mystery #3
Title: A Whole Latte Murder
Author: Caroline Fardig
Publisher: Random House Publishing, Alibi
Published: November 8th, 2016
I had thoroughly enjoyed the first novel in this series, Death before Decaf, so was more than happy when I was able to read this sequel. Juliet Langley is the manager at the Java Jive coffee house and she’s already helped save her best friend and employer, Pete Bennett, from being convicted of murder, much to the chagrin of certain local police officers!
In this tumultuous sequel, Juliet finds another murder victim and, when a barista who works for her also goes missing she’s thrust into the midst of the investigation – contrary to the wishes of her boyfriend, newly promoted homicide detective, Ryder Hamilton. Get ready for some of Juliet’s other ex boyfriends to play important roles in this cosy murder mystery where nothing is as straightforward as it initially seems.
This is a complex plot with plenty of twists and turns as more clues are revealed leading to the highly dramatic ending. It is also a great exploration of relationships with a break up, a potential friends to more development and another fresh start included in the emotional turmoil! With murder, attempted murder, hit and run, romance, suspense and packed with humorous episodes and suspense this is a real page turner and great addition to the cosy mystery series!
I requested an ARC of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
Coffeehouse manager and reluctant sleuth Juliet Langley returns in a gripping novel from the bestselling author of Death Before Decaf and Mug Shot. Just as things are perking up in Nashville, a serial killer sends tensions foaming over.
Juliet’s personal and professional lives have recently received an extra jolt of energy. Her romance with the hunky detective Ryder Hamilton continues to simmer, and business at Java Jive has never been better. But her good mood quickly turns as stale as day-old espresso when she finds out that Ryder has been promoted to his precinct’s homicide division. With him risking his life to catch the worst kind of criminals, Juliet’s growing sense of unease ignites when a local college student goes missing.
Suddenly every Nashville resident is on high alert, especially Juliet’s neighbor Chelsea. Juliet does her best to calm the girl’s nerves, but her worst fears are confirmed when she finds Chelsea dead. Even though she tries her best to stay out of it, Juliet’s involvement puts a strain on Ryder’s first homicide case. The situation soon becomes even more personal for Juliet and her best friend Pete Bennett when one of their employees disappears during her shift. As a killer lurks in the shadows, Juliet, Pete, and Ryder seek out a double shot of justice.
