This is a lovely, easy and quick read, a story that’s a great tonic by an author I’d never read before – but one I’ll look out for in future! It is a story of love the second time around. Both the hero, Ryan Collins, and the heroine, Shannon Ward, have been married before and have grown up children. Ryan has twin boys and a daughter and it is over three years since he and their mother divorced – but that’s after years of struggling in a marriage between friends rather than true loves. Forty-five year old Shannon had been devastated by the untimely death of her beloved husband in a car accident. Both are no looking for love, indeed they’ve been protecting their hearts from further hurt, but one look across a crowded diner is enough to crack those protective walls. Can they be brave enough to risk their hearts again? Will they give love a chance or will this just be a quick holiday romance?
This story has is set in the beautiful Montana countryside, with one group of female friends trying to get their widowed friend enjoying life again whilst a group of local men are endeavouring to do the same for their divorced friend. The interactions between individuals and the groups, the diverse personalities, are all portrayed brilliantly. There’s humour, family interference, some very different attitudes from their grown up children and romance in this thoroughly enjoyable story which is a pleasure to escape into. I hope the subsequent stories in the series will feature romances for some of their other friends and will be looking out for them as I’d love to read them!
I requested and received an ARC of this novel without obligation to read. This is my honest review.
Widow Shannon Ward lives for her job and her children. Not wanting to feel that bone deep pain of losing her husband suddenly in a car accident, Shannon closed off her heart. Her four best friends and children decide she needs to get out and live again and maybe find love. A girls only vacation to the Mountains of Montana maybe just what she needs. Finding love again is farthest from her mind and definitely not on her to-do list. However, a certain sexy rancher may change her mind.
Rancher Ryan Collins has finally got divorced from his high school sweet heart. Though both agree they should’ve never married. The only thing good that came out of that marriage was his three children. Ryan is done with love and women in his life. He’s happy with running his ranch and bachelorhood. So he thinks until he meets Shannon.
Two hearts closed off from love and determined to stay that way, until that first glance at each other in a diner. Will Shannon and Ryan risk their hearts one more time to find love again or walk away?
