Title: The Perfect Tear
Author: Connie Lansberg
Publisher: Shooting for Success LLC DBA Rockit Press
Published: December 15th, 2015
The story starts with a competition, the results of which have the potential to change the human world forever! This is a tale of mystery, machinations, manipulations, magic and more! It tells the story of Eleanor, born both unexpectedly and prematurely, likened to being the runt of the litter, she’s also someone with the ability to sing nature into balance. She’s feisty, determined and someone who fights for the survival of others. I loved the first example of this where we are introduced to Bella!
I thoroughly enjoyed this very different fantasy. The characters are well developed and easy to relate to. The musical themes and songs running throughout the story are superb demonstrations of the need for harmony between both the lyrics and melody to create connections to help save her world.
This is a fairy story all grown up. It has all the elements of this genre but written for much older audiences. The royal family, magic, mystery and intrigue are all there together with a heroine to overcome all the obstacles preventing her romance with her true love and their chance for their own happily ever after. However, it is also very different from what my first assumptions were – and I mean that in a very positive way. The author’s background in music and songwriting shines through, painting vivid pictures in the imagination of her readers. I understand that she’s also created an album, Tsera’s Gift, with ten songs relating to this story – I can’t wait to listen to them!
The author kindly agreed to answer some questions about this book and her background – you can read them on my blog here!
Eleanor, a timid orphan, has no clue to her real purpose, but she also has no desire to become a subservient old maid, like the miserable nuns she is forced to with. Eleanor believes Edward, whom she loves, will save her from being forced to take vows. She knows Mother Superior has no intention of letting her leave–her songs are the only thing keeping the grey mist at bay. Her devastation is complete when she discovers Edward is a prince and heir to the throne, but it is the impetus she needs to leave the safety of the abbey and go in search of her long lost father.
She doesn’t get far before discovering her true destiny. With only her instincts to protect her, she must match wits with a powerful being intent on the destruction of her world. If she does not find The Perfect Tear and release its healing power into the land, she will become an accomplice in the destruction of all she loves.
