The Prophecy – “Every generation the nine daughters of Zeus are reborn, and with their rebirth are also nine Guardians. They will be marked by the gods, and given gifts to protect his treasure. Their abilities will only be unlocked when they find their muse.”

My Review:

This is the second book in this superb series and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. It continues on from the first book, so I think it will help to ensure you read that first. In this story, Navy SEAL Hunter Armstrong has returned from a mission where one of his team was kidnapped and he’s been traumatised by it. He’s been sent to be evaluated by Callie O’Connor, a civilian psychologist who works for the Navy who is also the Muse of Epic Poetry. When he goes for his appointment he’s determined to just get his paperwork signed and back to rescuing his comrade but Callie has other ideas! When he starts hearing other people’s thoughts, however, he starts to doubt himself and his own sanity. Regardless the two are attracted to each other but Callie has sworn off men after what happened in the previous book (sorry, not saying what – you need to read it to find out!) Can Hunter and Callie open themselves up to love? The Muse sisters are still in danger and the next target is Callie. Can Hunter protect her and can they convince each other to give their love a chance?

I have to admit that I tend to stalk this author, looking out for any new publications by her. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed her shifter novels and am now totally enamoured of this Greek mythological series. As usual, the story has well developed main and secondary characters, an intricately woven plot which is full of twists and turns and is a real page turner! There are hints at the end which I hope signal the next couple to have starring roles in the sequel – and I can’t wait to read it! If you enjoy well crafted stories with relatable characters and emotively written so you get sucked into the action packed scenarios, all spiced with romance, look no further – I highly recommend this book and the series!

Many thanks to the author for gifting me an ARC of this novel with no obligation. This is my honest review.

Callie O’Connor’s life has never been the same since the Muse of Epic Poetry came alive inside of her. Now she’s on the other side of the country, working as civilian psychologist for the Navy, and leading her Muse sisters in their quest to reopen the Theater of the Muses.

But nothing could have prepared her for Hunter Armstrong. He’s a Navy Seal, driven, confident, and dangerous. And he plans to do more than just protect her.

The gods couldn’t have picked a better Guardian. But as Hunter soon discovers, Callie has some skeletons of her own in the closet, and loving her could lead to his destruction.
