Synopsis: Sex, drugs, and spicy tuna rolls?Resilient and disciplined, tsunami survivor Eve Ono moves to California from Japan looking for a position as a sushi chef. When she’s suddenly fired from her restaurant job, desperation drives her to find work on a fishing boat despite her fears of the ocean. To make matters worse, she’s stuck in close quarters with her new captain—a man whose raw physicality drives her out of her mind with lust.

Free-spirited and roguish, Sam Lamont is a commercial fisherman aboard his own dive boat, the Bravado. When he makes a bad deal with a deadly loan shark who threatens to take his boat, Sam is in danger of losing both his business and his way of life. On top of that, he’s got to train his new deckhand—a beautiful hard-ass who just so happens to be sexy as hell.

A female sushi chef with mad knife skills. A deep-sea diver who’s pissed off a Mexican drug cartel. Together, they’re in trouble, and the only way out is down.

*AUTHOR’S NOTE* While this book is a part of a series, it can be read completely as a STANDALONE.

My Review:

Two families where the father and grown up child have disrupted relationships . . . She’s a brilliant sushi chef who survived a tsunami but didn’t survive working in her father’s restaurant. Now she’ll take just about any job, even facing her fear of the ocean to work on a fishing boat. The boat owner and diver is Sam Lamont. The chemistry between them is volcanic, explosive but oh so forbidden. A close encounter with a loan shark and a man-eating shark are both dangerous for him, serious difficulties to be overcome. With a Mexican drug cartel out to get him, is love really possible for these two so different characters?

The story has a brilliant range of secondary characters, too, from Charlie to Tiffani and everyone else in between, they come together to make this an action packed, erotic romantic suspense. The story is action packed in every sense of the term and I loved how Eve is such a kick-ass heroine, especially when standing up for her man. There are the necessary misunderstandings, interference from well meaning (?) friends and plenty of twists and turns on the journey to a happy ever after. This is another great read from this highly talented author!

An excerpt to whet your appetite:

Eve stood still as Sam took everything off.

She tried not to look. But on the sunny deck of the Bravado, buck naked and shameless, Sam had the body of a Greek god.

He was big and scruffy and aggressively masculine. His heavy jaw was covered in shadow and he wore his dark, wavy hair a little long. This theme carried down to his chest and torso, but not even a healthy coat of dark hair could hide the sharply defined muscles of his pecs and abs. His nipples, one shade darker than his tanned skin, were tiny. A thin trail of hair led down his torso, dividing the muscles of his six-pack before widening and gathering past his shallow belly button.

She didn’t dare look lower.

“The next part is kind of gross,” he said.

He took a bottle of hair conditioner and squirted some in his hand. He rubbed it all over his body like lotion until his skin glistened in the sunlight and the air filled with the ladylike scent of fresh herbs and strawberries.

“What’s that for?” she asked, pretending to look at the instrument panel. Her skin tingled as if his hands were on her body instead.

“It helps me get my suit on easier.” He grabbed his wetsuit and pulled it on up to his waist. The black neoprene clung to his rock-hard thighs and round ass. When he turned around, Eve caught the outline of his enormous package before she could look away again.

“Hand me my mask, will you?” he asked.

It hung inside the wheelhouse. As Eve handed it to him, he made eye contact with her. His unusual mismatched eyes seemed to burn into hers, and in an instant, she sensed he was trying to get a rise out of her.

Mia Hopkins writes lush romances starring fun, sexy characters who love to get down and dirty. She’s a sucker for working class heroes, brainy heroines and wisecracking best friends. When she’s not lost in a story, Mia spends her time cooking, gardening, traveling, volunteering and looking for her keys. In a past life, she was a classroom teacher and still has a pretty good “teacher voice” and “teacher stare.” She lives in the heart of Los Angeles with her roguish husband and two waggish dogs.
