My Review:

A lovely, sweet romance – great to escape into!

Once upon a time there were three sisters – Daffodil, Dahlia and Daisy. The first two are slim, fashion conscious and well known as being very attractive young ladies. Daisy, however, has always been known as “the other McGregor sister”. She’s highly intelligent but is usually happiest hiding in a corner, avoiding attention – unless she’s doing her job as a veterinarian.

At Lia’s bachelorette party, she’s somewhat resigned to being the “ugly duckling” and is amazed when the handsome Mason Carlisle comes to sit with her, chatting amicably and the two seem to connect – until she overhears Mason’s brother, Spencer, thanking him for being his wingman whilst he flirted with her oldest sister, Daffodlil. Daisy, however, decides to use his guilt at being found out to help her having to attend her sister’s wedding without a partner and the associated commentary she’ll be subjected to from her aunts and other relations if she does. She convinces Mason to be her wingman, attending the weekend wedding with her. He’s surprisingly happy to do so. He suggests they start by getting to know each other on a series of dates that will also mean people are more likely to accept them as a couple.

The story has a great range of characters – from bitchy bridesmaids, a gruesomely gropey groom-to-be, and a very alpha male hero who can also be charming and caring, together with the three sisters and their intractable Mother – oh and two delightful dogs! I thoroughly enjoyed how the relationship between Mason and Daisy grows through the story and how other people’s attitudes to her also change as her self-confidence and feelings of self-worth gained through Mason’s support and love, enable her to start to stand up for herself both within her family and others.

Mind you, Mason also has his out of control caveman moments but he’s also so protective of Daisy whilst also not standing for any nonsense from her, either. He is one of those super heroes, someone who recognises that beauty isn’t all on the outside, more important is what the person is like on the inside, how they behave and relate to others. It was also great when Daisy decided not to be a doormat and stood up to her Mum and sisters though actually clearing the air helped them all understand each other’s point of view and helped cement their relationship rather than driving them apart. I also enjoyed Cooper and Peaches developing relationship, too!

Overall a fun romance where preconceived ideas about people are blown to shreds when they get to know each other, where bullies don’t win and love finds a way. I have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys a well crafted, heartwarming romance – I hope there will be more stories in future featuring Daffodil, Dahlia and, of course, Spencer!

Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review.

Synopsis

She was supposed to be his one-night distraction. But their attraction is undeniable.

Introverted Daisy McGregor is used to being a wallflower, but what she lacks in style, she makes up for with an acerbic wit, a passion for life, and a deep devotion to her family. So she’ll suffer through her sister Dahlia’s bachelorette party and accept the cloud of pity for going stag to the wedding.

Out at the pub, sexy bad boy Mason Carlisle is a reluctant wingman tasked with entertaining Daisy while his brother flirts with her oldest sister, Daffodil. When the plan fails and Mason’s true intent is revealed, he feels intense guilt—and a sensual spark of desire for the unlikeliest of women.

Daisy decides to use this unfortunate encounter to her advantage: to make it up to her, Mason will be another kind of wingman, playing the role of her boyfriend and wedding date. Will their ruse unravel completely—or will Mason and Daisy’s undeniable attraction ignite a scorching love affair that knows no rules?
