Series: Limitless Love
Title: A Limited Engagement
Author: Bethany Michaels
Publisher: Entangled Indulgence, Entangled Publishing

Lily Harmon is having a bad week . . . she’s spectacularly split with her boyfriend, seriously hitting him in the face in the process. That wouldn’t be quite so bad if he wasn’t also her boss. So now forget the wedding plans, time to start looking for another job – and soon, especially as he’s threatening to have her black listed so she’ll not be able to continue her career. On a brighter note, she’s meeting ‘the boy next door’, Derek Sawyer, for lunch. Now he’s the one she had the secret crush on all through her teens but he’s totally out of reach as a highly successful bad boy on the racing circuit. Their friendship has still lasted all these years and now he’s come up with a plan . . . he wants her to be his fake girlfriend to convince the daughter of an oil baron billionaire potential sponsor, Serena, who seems to assume she’ll get him as part of the deal! However, the that lady isn’t easily sidetracked and when news of their engagement reaches their parents they’re all ecstatic so the weekend engagement is lasting longer and getting more real every day . . . .
This is a classic scenario, the fake engagement, but it is given another twist by the couple having grown up together and knowing each other so well. The reactions of parents, friends and neighbours was superb at adding to the pressure by as the two main characters initially endeavoured not to give into their feelings for each other – but when they do, expect fireworks! There are plenty of sparks around and the secondary characters like Shana (Derek’s sister and Lily’s best friend) and Serena just add fuel to the fire!
This is a great read from start to finish and I thoroughly enjoyed reading how the two are so focussed on not taking advantage of the situations but love just has to find a way. It is a sweet yet hot romance that is brilliant to escape into. I look forward to reading more by this author in future.
Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review.
Derek Sawyer, sexiest bad boy on the racing circuit, is about to land a huge sponsor. The only problem is the oil baron’s daughter wants to make Derek part of the deal. Worried he’ll offend the old billionaire if he rejects his daughter, Derek comes up with the perfect plan—pretend he’s already engaged to his friend Lilly.
Lilly Harmon used to daydream about her childhood crush Derek proposing to her…but not like this. Of course, she just lost her boyfriend and her job, so her five-year plan is already smashed to hell. Pretending to be with Derek might help her get her PR career back on track.
But the oil baron’s daughter won’t give up that easily, and Derek’s parents believe the engagement proves he’s become the son they always wanted.
Money. Family. Love. The truth could destroy everything. And to think this engagement was supposed to be the easy way out.
