My Review:

This is a truly heartwarming tale of two people who have reacted in very different ways to having alcoholic fathers. She’s something of a control freak, with a real fetish for stationery which she stores in her ‘magic closet’. He’s determined not to make promises or plans, only striving to support his Mum largely because of his feelings of guilt. The two meet when Eve tries to discover what has happened to the carpenter she’d employed to build the new tasting and visitor centre at her family Blue Mountain distillery. The carpenter in question is Nick’s father, and Nick has returned because his father is in hospital. That puts Eve in a real quandary as a huge charity event is being set up to coincide with the opening of the centre and if it isn’t finished all her carefully organised plans will be thwarted – to say nothing of the state her Mum will be in! As she tries to inveigle Nick into taking over from his Dad and finishing the job, their back stories, attraction and the Bourbon all have a role to play in this enthralling story!

I was impressed how the author dealt with some difficult issues and helped her characters grow and develop through the story. Don’t assume it is all a negative tale, there are plenty of laugh out loud moments – especially in that Magic closet! There are hot, steamy encounters and some bad language in this story but not enough to detract from an enjoyable story from my point of view. If you like your stories where issues are dealt with and opposites attract despite their differences and reticence, you could well thoroughly enjoy escaping into this story like I did!

I requested and was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

Office supply addict Eve McGrath’s meticulously organized life is on the verge of crashing at her feet. Blue Mountain distillery’s new tasting and visitor center has to be finished pronto or her mother will lose her mind. Good thing Eve likes a challenge—which is exactly what she’ll face trying to convince the flaky contractor’s hot son to finish the job.

Nick Baker is back in Kentucky just long enough to get his wayward dad back on his feet. Then he’s gone. Unfortunately, he can’t resist helping Eve, the sexy distiller-in-distress, whose addictive, bourbon-flavored kisses threaten his carefully constructed boundaries. And if he can’t rein himself in, the uncomfortable secrets of past will nail him to the wall…
