I admit it, I’m a readaholic and proud of it. Having said that, I have never read a book quite like this one! I actually finished it a few days ago but delayed writing my review to give myself more time to come to terms with all that happens in it. Yes, there are aspects of romance, mystery, horror, suspense and paranormal in it but they are crafted together into a unique, very readable masterpiece that really doesn’t fit into any lone genre other than its own.

It is a real page turner that had me enthralled from beginning to end. It starts as a love story, moving on to become an intriguing murder mystery entangled with ghostly communications, a search for the truth, historic events and further tragedy. Every time I thought I knew what would happen next, the author threw in another curve ball to unsettle me again! As the blurb says, in this story ‘there will be no happy endings’. This is definitely one to add to the top of your tbr pile IMHO.

I requested and was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

Synopsis

The demented thing is that this evolved from the most sickly sweet, heart-wrenching love story you’ve ever heard. I went to Sully because I just couldn’t get over Jack’s murder. I couldn’t deal.

Iona came to me the same most did: because there was no closure. A love cut too short. She begged me to open the gate between the living and the dead.

We should have left it shut.

This. This is not a love story. This is a possession story. A story of lies. A story of two faces. This is a story of death and violent echoes from the other side.

And there will be no happy endings.

Yes, I definitely blame you for me reading this one – thank you! Definitely a very different read and one I think will stay with me because of its uniqueness.

Definitely completely different than anything I’d read before. Had at least one of those jaw dropping moments there towards the end that just sealed my rating on it. 🙂

Yes, definitely didn’t see some of the twists coming at all! Hope others will give it a go, too!
