Title: One Week to Win Her Boss
Author: Barbara White Daille
Publisher: Entangled Bliss, Entangled Publishing
Published: November 13th, 2017
This is a lovely, heartwarming festive read with plenty of angst and drama as well as romance. It is set in the aptly named ‘Snowflake Valley’ during the festive season. Single Mum, Amber Barnett, works as the housekeeper to the private ski lodge of Michael DeFranco but doesn’t usually live there. However, when the power to her apartment is cut she takes refuge at the lodge, knowing Michael is due to spend the holidays with his family . . . . but he doesn’t – in fact he unexpectedly turns up at the lodge, discovering her there when she almost attacks him as an intruder! This is the start to a week of them living in the lodge, him claiming they’re a couple to stop her being subject to her family’s constant matchmaking attempts and being roped into helping in the various festive events in this close knit community. Sometimes acting out roles makes them even more real and the attraction between these two just grows, changing attitudes, expectations and behaviours in this delightful romance.
The story is packed with a plethora of adorable characters. It is easy to see why Michael doesn’t connect with his dysfunctional family but I love how Amber’s influence helps him develop better relations with some of his brothers. Her family are brilliant role models! The community festive events brilliantly portrayed and there are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. A really touching story full of family festivities, fun and romance together with angst and turmoil that make it a brilliant story to escape into whatever the season!
I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.
Single mom Amber Barnett loves family, kids, Christmas…and unfortunately, her boss, confirmed bachelor Michael DeFranco. It’s a crush she really needs to get over. Except, when she’s temporarily forced from her apartment, her only option is to stay at Michael’s private ski lodge, where she’s the housekeeper. No problem. Her handsome boss rarely visits Snowflake Valley unexpectedly, plus he’s spending the holidays with his family. Or so she thinks…
A stormy Christmas Eve reunion leaves Michael seeking the solitude of his lodge, where he finds Amber in residence—and in trouble. Attempting to save her from her matchmaking family, he announces they’re a couple. His good deed backfires when they’re instantly included in each and every holiday event in town. So much for solitude.
Only the more time he spends with the beautiful, cheery brunette, the more he yearns to make things real between them. But he and Amber want different things, and Michael could never be the family man she’s looking for.
