Don’t let this being the sixth in series put you off reading this. I hadn’t realised it and haven’t read any of the earlier stories but I still found this a very enjoyable paranormal romance with quite a few twists to make it a delightfully different read.

In this paranormal existence, the powerful berserkers have eliminated most vampires and Sasha Ivanov is one of the few still surviving. She’s very much a loner, but still party girl out for the next thrill. When she discovers a supernatural fight club she discovers one of the fighters is her soul mate – Ewan Brún. The only problem is he is a berserker . . . . Their attraction is mutual, hot and forbidden! Can they resist each other? Can they trust each other?  They should be mortal enemies but will love find a way to bring them together and breakdown barriers that will thwart them?

What an exciting – and steamy – read this proved to be. The angst and turmoil of going against all they’ve been brought up to believe is portrayed brilliantly. The scene building is brought to life in the descriptions, making the reader feel like a witness to the unfolding events. This is a Romeo and Juliet type romance, bringing together two people from opposing forces. There’s much still to be resolved in future but this worked well as a standalone – I need to read the earlier books once I’ve got my tbr pile down to a more manageable size! Meanwhile, I’ve found another author I need to keep an eye out for!

I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Synopsis

He was one of the most feared creatures in the supernatural world, and yet, she was drawn to him unlike any other. His scent ignited her thirst. The sight of him drove her mad with want…

Lovers forever—or enemies to the death?

Sasha Ivanov was born to be wild. A vampire party girl, she stalks the L.A. clubs at night. Dancing. Drinking. Indulging her darkest appetites. Never sated, she’s always looking for more: more danger, more excitement, more blood. But when she enters a supernatural fight club—and is tethered to her mortal enemy—Sasha realizes she’s playing the most dangerous game of all…

Ewan Brún was born to kill vampires. A powerful berserker and unbeaten champion, he doesn’t need a weapon to be deadly. He is the weapon. But when his soul becomes captive to the most beautiful vampire he’s ever seen, he is all but powerless. He cannot resist Sasha—and cannot fight his desires. Is their love strong enough to defeat the gathering forces of darkness that threatens to destroy them both?

The chemistry is electric.”
