Series: Heart’s Haven Easter #4

Title: Love in the WINGS

Author: Delia Latham

Publisher: White Rose Publishing, Pelican Book Group

Published: April 13th, 2014

Pages: 91

Rating: 4/5

This is a very different romance with a strong Christian ethic. It is set around the Church and its parishioners in Angel Falls and the fight to protect them.

The Church secretary is Aria Robbins and she has other key roles within the Church. Corbin Bishop joins the Church to be the new youth minister and moves next door to her, she dislikes him from the start – but can’t say just why. When the vicar’s wife, Pia, has a phone call warning from someone she trusts stating that the village and the vicar in particular are going to be under spiritual attack. The atmosphere in the village is dark, heavy and humid so the warning is heeded. Pia and Aria set up a round the clock prayer cycle to help protect the vicar and the community. This prayer team are known as Warriors in God’s Service – or WINGS.

As the threat materialises, there are dangers, secrets and so much more to be revealed. It is a short but action packed novella with great characters and made an interesting read that I enjoyed. It seems unusual to find such a strongly Christian based novel having paranormal elements but they work well in this context and seemed very relevant to the plot. It is a story of good v evil and, even if you aren’t a Christian, I suspect you’ll enjoy this if you’re looking for a quick but action packed ‘clean’ romance. I’ll definitely be looking out for future books in this series or by this author in future.

I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Synopsis

Church secretary and praise team leader, Aria Robbins isn’t happy when she has to work with the new youth minister. She also has to grin and bear it when he moves into the cottage next to hers at Heart’s Haven…but she doesn’t have to like him. Truth is, she’d be much happier if Corbin Bishop would take his charm and his big, fancy ideas right back to Austin where he belongs.

When a spiritual attack on Angel Falls lands Aria and Corbin on the battlefront as part of a team of prayer Warriors in God’s Service (WINGS), they must fight for their town, their church, and their pastor, and Aria sees Corbin in a whole new light.

But emotional scars from an unspeakable childhood have distorted Corbin’s acceptance of certain Scriptural truths, and Aria won’t trust her heart in the hands of a man whose faith is unsure. Aria wraps her prayer wings around him tightly. Will Corbin finally trust God to heal his soul?

My pleasure – I hadn’t read anything by you before but will happily do so in future! Personally I think being out of the ordinary is what set this book apart and makes it such a great read – I still need to catch up on reading the earlier books in this series 🙂

I see now that I should never zip off a comment in a hurry. lol I apologize for the poorly written first sentence in my earlier comment.

Just an FYI: There are four authors involved in the Heart’s Haven series. It consists of four collections, each of which includes a novella by each author. I think we all fell in love with Angel Falls. It was hard to say goodbye to the town and its characters. 🙂 You’ll find a link to a “sampler” of the first three collections on my website, if you’d like a “taste” of the series. 🙂 http://delialatham.net/heart-s-haven.

    Thank you again, Elaine!
