Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!
Beat the post-Valentine’s Day blues and the cold February nights with Jennifer Gracen’s latest The Harrison’s novel, IT MIGHT BE YOU!
Title: It Might Be You
Author: Jennifer Gracen
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: February 27, 2018
Publisher: Kensington Publishing/Penguin Random House
Series: The Harrisons
Format: Print & Digital
What an emotional roller coaster story this proved to be! Yes, it is a contemporary romance but there are so many other threads interwoven to make it a colourful tapestry of relationships, events and scenarios portrayed in a manner to tug at the reader’s heartstrings.
When his Miami police precinct had a bone marrow donor drive Nick volunteered never imagining he might be a match but he is and the family of the ill child wish to meet and support him. Nick Martell is proud to share his latest news with his parents, never dreaming that this will lead to life changing revelations about his biological father. Connecting with the half-siblings he’d never known about and their families is dramatic in its own right, but add in his sick nephew, Myles, and it all gets even more moving! The attraction between Nick and Amanda, the nurse caring for Myles, is instantaneous and mutual but both are wary of developing a long distance relationship and there’s enough family drama already in that household! Can love find a way to connect Nick and his newly discovered family? Can Nick and Amanda find a way to their HEA together or will there be too many obstacles in their path towards true love?
This is a very moving story that I didn’t want to put down. I felt invested in hoping all would go well for Myles as well as for the romance. The family dynamics were volatile – and so was the romance! Never assume anything with this pair! Just when all seems to be going well there’s another catastrophic clash to drive them even further apart than their homes already are. This is an enthralling, emotive story with so many twists and turns it keeps you uncertain of the outcome and reluctant to put the book down till you’ve read it all – and that epilogue is well worth waiting for! Although this is the fifth and final story in this series, I hadn’t read any of the earlier stories about the Harrison family but still thoroughly enjoyed this one so believe it works well as a standalone and the extra novella “Happily Ever After” was an unexpected bonus. I have no hesitation in highly recommending both to anyone who enjoys emotive contemporary romances with additional family dramas.
I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.
When Officer Nick Martell learns that a sick child needs his help, he flies to the young Harrison boy’s side. But once in the heart of the wealthy Harrison family, Nick faces a shocking truth—he is none other than a Harrison son himself, born of a secret affair. Though the blue-collar bachelor struggles to accept the elite clan as his own, compassion for the vulnerable boy compels him to stay. That, and the deep spark of connection he feels for the child’s beautiful nurse . . .
Amanda Kozlov never felt such a strong and sudden passion for a man before. But falling for Nick is not an option—the life the rugged cop leads is too dangerous, the wounds he carries from his explosive family history too fresh. Yet watching Nick bond with the young boy in her care, experiencing tenderness in his arms, Amanda longs to take a chance on the one man who could save the Harrison heir—the only man with the power to shatter her heart. And as drama swirls around them, only time will tell if they’re brave enough to give their love the future it deserves.
