Katie Capwell is a bright and accomplished recent law school graduate, and she has her shiny future all mapped out.
Ryan Brincatt is a tattooed and impossibly cool martial artist, and he’s mastered a fierce roundhouse kick.
Their paths never should have crossed.
But on a whim, she signs up for kickboxing lessons with him. She never imagined that one decision would change absolutely everything.
This is a delightful, slow burn, romance with the heroine, Katie Capwell, as the main character throughout. In the first few pages we learn that Katie had recently finished law school and is awaiting her bar results when the job she’d accepted falls through and her boyfriend splits with her “because it is summer”, just three days after tell her he loves her! This is definitely a time of change for this young lady and you’ll have to read it yourself to discover what happens when she goes with a friend to see if she’d like to learn yoga and accidentally meets Ryan Brincatt, a martial arts teacher who inspires her to have a go at that instead!
This is a story of deciding whether to follow your own dreams or those that others have for you. It is about taking chances, living life and doing what is right for you. Ryan is a brilliant character with his own issues but also very caring, protective and supportive. I think it is so lovely to read a romance where people aren’t jumping into sexual relationships here, there and everywhere – so if that’s what you prefer, don’t bother with this one!
This is a story where the heroine is learning about herself, having the experience of her first job in her new career, exploring options and considering her future as well as finding romance. There are misunderstandings and some moving, poignant memories revealed as the story progresses. I found it a lovely story to escape into and recommend it to anyone who enjoys ‘clean’ romances with a getting stronger female lead.
I requested and was lucky enough to be given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.
