RT Book Reviews proclaims that the O’Brien Family series from award-winning author Cecy Robson “has the hottest brothers ever!” And in SAVE ME, it’s time for Seamus, the family’s most notorious bachelor, to find true love.
Three weddings. No date. What’s a hot stud to do when all the women on his speed dial are either serving dinner to their families or serving time?
Out of all the O’Briens, Seamus is the best-looking, most creative, and, did I mention, best-looking? Single at almost forty wasn’t a big deal until every sibling in his large and loud Irish family found “the one.” Now, he’s desperate for a wedding date, one he doesn’t have to worry will make out with the limo driver or rob the bride and groom blind.
Allie Mendes is the good daughter, who’s spent her life living in her perfect sister’s shadow. But when her sister steals the man Allie was supposed to marry, that shadow she’s lived in threatens to swallow her whole. Allie wants to believe a bright future awaits. But when she begs God to save her from this disastrous twist of fate, the last person she expects Him to send her is Seamus O’Brien.
Allie needs a stand-in boyfriend to avoid appearing as lonely as she feels. Seamus needs a decent woman without an ankle bracelet or a rap sheet as long as his muscular arms. The two make a deal to pose as each other’s perfect date. But weddings mean romance and a chance at forever neither had planned.
This is a funny story of fake to real romance with a notorious Irish/American Catholic family, the O’Briens, at its heart. In this story it is the oldest son, Seamus, who is being pressured by his younger siblings finding the loves of their lives and planning to get married. He wants to bring his own date to their weddings but most of his recent dates have really not been the kind you bring to your family – not if you want their possessions to be safe, anyway!
When tasting potential cakes for his sister’s wedding Allie Mendes greets him. He initially assumes she’s someone he’s had a one night stand with but she reminds him of their shared school days and how she’s helped him and his brothers buy real estate. That’s when her sister and her fiancé, who was actually the man who Allie was supposed to marry, arrive. Seamus hears Allie whisper “Save me!” and steps in to do just that. That’s the start of their fake relationship. Both need dates for their sibling’s weddings. The only problem is, the more time they spend together the more the attraction between the two grows. Can this fake romance develop into real love?
A hilarious story, this definitely has laugh out loud moments but it also has some heartwarming relationships and emotive events. The interpersonal relationships in the two families are so different! I was particularly impressed with how Seamus gave Allie the support and strength to stand up for herself and show her family how badly they were treating her. The weddings were each very moving for very different reasons . . . two you’ll probably need tissues handy for whilst the third is so funny!
Save Me is a steamy romance during which past aspirations are explored and found wanting whilst new opportunities develop to show love can arrive when and how you least expect it.
I requested and was given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.
