I loved escaping into this story which had me laughing out loud, it is a brilliant, fun and hot read with some tear jerker moments, too.

This is a lovely story as both main characters have loving families and different reasons for their personal insecurities. Ford Hartigan has always felt like the odd brother. He loves his siblings and family but they’re all firefighters and he’s the rebel rule follower who chose to become a police officer instead. At a wedding reception he’s attending, someone turns on a ‘kiss cam’ and he ends up kissing the wedding planner, Gina Luca. Gina is a much loved member of her family but she’s also always felt the odd one, she’s another one who is a rule follower unlike her family who are connected to the mob. Their ‘kiss cam’ kiss is unexpectedly hot and so is Ford but Gina has been teased for most of her life about her looks so has very low self esteem and looks for other motivations for Ford’s attentions.

As a discovery made by Gina as she strives to renovate her Victorian home gives Ford a reason to stay and get to know this enigmatic young lady. There are plenty of twists and turns in this emotional roller coaster ride – running through the full gamut of emotions whilst reading this story. It is a delightful read that I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending. I’m also very glad it is the first in a new series as I can’t wait to read future books, though they’ll have to be great to live up to the standard of this one IMHO!

I entered a lottery and was fortunate enough to win an e-copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

It’s true. I’m not what most people would call “pretty” and, well, high school was rough. Fast forward ten years and life is good…

Until a bunch of jerks think it’s hilarious to put the “butterface” (AKA me) on a wedding Kiss Cam with the hottest guy ever—and that old humiliation hits hard.

I recognize him immediately. The sexiest cop in Waterbury and totally out of my league.

But then he kisses me. And we totally forget the room, the crowd, everything.

Then he tells everyone we’ve been dating for months.

Soon everything starts to feel too real, from adorable fights over “necessary” tools to fix my broken porch to surviving a free-for-all dinner with his six siblings to picking up where our last kiss left off.

But there’s something he’s not telling me about why he’s really hanging around, and I’m pretty sure it has to do with my mob-connected brothers.

Because this is not a make-over story, and Cinderella is only a fairy tale…

Great review Elaine. Sounds like it has everything romance, emotions, humour, second chances, what more could a reader ask for.
