My Review:
Just look at that cover – I think it shows just how cute and appealing this children’s story of friendship, support and working together really is. There are great veg-characters, bad bandit bunnies and, of course, Tommy Twigtree overlooking all the escapades in the garden. When Olive Onion and Larry Leek invite Charlie the Carrot to join them, they work together to help him plant his seeds and there’s a spirit of friendship and camaraderie in the vegetable patch. However when Robbie Rabbit and his fellow bunny bandits decide they want to eat up the carrots how can the veg protect them?
It is a lovely story, beautifully illustrated and an appealing read. The characters and plot will appeal to youngsters, especially if the book is being read to them. It is an inspirational story of working together to overcome bullies, a fun read that I recommend to anyone with young children in their care. I could certainly envisage using it either as a parent or in a classroom situation to promote discussions regarding events in the story and actions taken by the characters, linking these to similar scenarios the children might experience in real life – great for PSHE!
I requested and was given a copy of this book. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Author Information
Michael lives in rural Sussex with his wife. His story telling started when his eldest grandchild was old enough to appreciate a bedtime tale. Rather than read to her he began to craft stories about the trees, plants and animals that live in his garden. As time passed and a second grandchild also enjoyed these tales of adventure and daring, the stories began to create a whole world that lived and went about its business right in his garden.
His grand kids, Poppy and Rudi continue to enjoy further developments in the lives of the characters that populate these stories and Tommy Twigtree and The Carrot Crunchers is the first in a series charming garden tales.
