Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!

The Cocktail Bar by Isabella May #Review #Contemporary #Community #Magic

My Review:

This is a story of learning to trust, following your heart and not your head along with listening to the voice of Mercedes and doing what she says! It is a tasty blend of community, relationships, revenge and romance about returning home, reconnecting with your past, developing new relationships and giving love a chance. It is also about a vindictive, manipulative and aggressive young lady who is determined to ruin everything you’re trying to do!

The cocktail bar is a new enterprise in Glastonbury being developed by rock star, River Jackson, much to the disdain of the local community. He’s following guidance from someone he met whilst in Mexico, someone who gave him a magical elixir to change the lives of three people, the chosen ones, but just who will they be. This is a story concerning a community, family, relationships and fate along with the magical, mystical element to keep you entertained.

The characters are well developed. There are some you automatically empathise with and like whilst others are their antithesis! It is a story packed with twists and turns to keep you guessing and several romances develop through it. I’m being careful not to name names so I’ll not give any spoilers away but I’m sure anyone who reads it, like me, definitely won’t like one of the women involved! There’s plenty to keep you guessing – including how everything can be resolved! A different story about a community, relationships and that key message to think with your heart and not your head, follow your dreams and give fate a chance . . . .

There are also some delicious sounding cocktail recipes after the story two of which contain Somerset Apples in some form and another for the Magical Mañana . . . . Cheers!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this review is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

Synopsis:

Rock star, River Jackson, is back in his hometown of Glastonbury to open a cocktail bar… and the locals aren’t impressed.

Seductive Georgina is proving too hot to handle; band mate, Angelic Alice, is messing with his heart and his head; his mum is a hippie-dippy liability; his school friends have resorted to violence – oh, and his band manager, Lennie, AND the media are on his trail.

But River is armed with a magical Mexican elixir which will change the lives of the Three Chosen Ones. Once the Mexican wave of joy takes a hold of the town, he’s glad he didn’t lose his proverbial bottle.

Pity he hasn’t taken better care of the real one.

Author Bio –

Isabella May lives in (mostly) sunny Andalucia, Spain with her husband, daughter and son, creatively inspired by the sea and the mountains. Having grown up on Glastonbury’s ley lines however, she’s unable to completely shake off her spiritual inner child, and is a Law of Attraction fanatic.

Cake, cocktail, and travel obsessed, she also loves nothing more than to (quietly) break life’s ‘rules’.
