Series: Life on the Moors #2
Title:The Talisman – Molly’s Story
Author: Eliza J Scott
Published: December 4th, 2018
This is an poignant story, a rollercoaster ride taking the reader through the whole gamut of emotions as Molly’s life from the age of fifteen to the present day is shared.
It starts with this feisty fifteen year old rushing to the rescue of a stranger who is being beaten up by a group of thugs. After frightening them off, she helps the injured sixteen year old Camm treat his wounds and he gives her a special gift – half of the Talisman, keeping the other half for himself and making her a promise. What happens between that time and the present, about twenty years later, is shared through flash backs and contemporary narrative. It is a delightful story of love and loss, ambition, dreams, family life and friendship as well as grief and romance. There are some heartbreaking events in this family drama but these are balanced by some humorous incidents and others that are truly heart-warming. Get ready for some hilarious, suggestive texts that need decoding to understand what the sender actually means, some very supportive friends, a tragedy, a broken heart and two romances that develop unexpectedly.
This is a brilliant contemporary story of a community with a whole range of characters from the pompous, lying wannabe elites to the down to earth, no nonsense, warm hearted locals. They are all well developed and believable and there are even some great dogs and a noisy cockerel, too! I found it to be an engaging read that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in highly recommending. I enjoyed it so much that I now have the first book in this series, The Letter – Kitty’s Story, on my Kindle ready to read!
I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.
Molly’s dream of taking over her childhood home at Withrin Hill Farm with husband Pip and their three children has finally come true. And, as they settle into the stunning Georgian farmhouse, with their plans to diversify into glamping nicely taking shape, the family couldn’t be happier.
But tragedy suddenly strikes, and Molly’s world is turned upside down.
Heartbroken and devastated, she struggles to face each day. True to form, her fiercely loyal best friends, Kitty and Violet, rally round offering love and support, but Molly doesn’t think she’ll ever be able to smile again. Until the day a tall, dark stranger with twinkly eyes arrives…
Follow Molly’s story in book 2 of the Life on the Moors Series set in Lytell Stangdale, a picture-perfect village in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors, where life is anything but quiet.
A heart-warming story of love, friendship and hope.
Eliza lives in a 17th-century cottage on the edge of a village in the North Yorkshire Moors with her husband, their two daughters and two mischievous black Labradors. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found with her nose in a book/glued t
o her Kindle or working in her garden. Eliza also enjoys bracing walks in the countryside, rounded off by a visit to a teashop where she can indulge in another two of her favourite things: tea and cake.
Eliza is inspired by her beautiful surroundings and loves to write heart-warming stories with happy endings.
