Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!

Fox Halt Farm by Celia Moore #Review #Contemporary #BlogTour

My Review:

This is the first story in a contemporary family saga, pivoting around  Billy, and the people and families she meets over the decades. It is a heart wrenching drama including many potential triggers but is also a real page turner that keeps you reading – and wanting the next book in the series as soon as possible!

The story is one of life and living, sharing the best and worst of Billy and her experiences. It is a story packed with dreams, hopes, secrets, romance and heartbreak. It starts on a Greek island with attempted suicide and a honeymoon but the key location throughout is the Fox Halt Farm, which is Billy’s family home.

There are a range of diverse characters, some you love then despair of, others you’re wary of and grow to love and everything in between. One that I love throughout was Billy’s Mum, Daniella, who has the biggest heart and best of intentions for everyone. Expect to go through the whole gamut of emotions as you read this story. There are heartwarming moments and others to the contrary. If controlling behaviour, adultery, murder, suicide or a miscarriage are triggers for you, be aware they occur in the story.

It is a story filled with twists and turns, things rarely work out as you’d initially assumed and there’s one character I suspect you’ll get to hate! It is an emotive read and I look forward to discovering more about events down on the farm and in Billy’s life generally in the future stories! This is a compelling read that I really didn’t want to put down. It is the first book in a trilogy, so don’t anticipate everything being resolved in this one, it definitely isn’t!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Opening on a cliff edge, Billy finds herself alone and betrayed. She believes everyone and everything she loves is threatened. Richard’s world is aglow with wealth, love and unswerving family loyalty but then his perfect life crosses Billy’s. He could save Billy, her beloved dairy cows and Fox Halt Farm but this young woman isn’t in the mood to be rescued.

Nothing will stay the same. Should they trust each other? Will their secrets tear their lives apart?

Fox Halt Farm is hard to put down. The story cracks along and you are caught up in Celia Moore’s vivid storytelling from the start.  If you love novels by Jill Mansell, Fiona Valpy, Lucinda Riley, Maeve Binchy and Danielle Steel you will love this novel too!
