The Earl’s Runaway Governess
This is a historical romance with a difference – he never planned on being an Earl and she never dreamt she’d need to run away from home!
Following the untimely death of both her beloved mother and stepfather, Marianne Grant is shocked to discover her stepbrother is now her Guardian. He’s a selfish reprobate who thinks he’s entitled to whatever he wants – and he’s set his sights on bedding her, despite her being unwilling. She escapes and seeks employment as a governess and that’s how she meets Ash, the very new Earl of Kingswood, his cousin’s widow, the Dowager Duchess and her daughter, the young lady she is to tutor. The change in life from a protected young lady to being alone and working is dramatic but not as shocking as the attraction she feels towards Ash! As she helps him restore order to Ledbury House, dare she reveal just why she’s working as a governess?
There are some great characters in this story and plenty of surprises, too. The relationships between the main characters and their families are key to much of what happens and there’s one event where I really felt like cheering Ash on! It highlights the different expectations and roles in that era as an integral part of the story. There are secrets to be revealed, misunderstandings to be rectified and romance to be found in this delightful historical romance. I really enjoyed reading it and have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone else who enjoys this genre.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
Who knew living with an earl…
…would lead to such temptation?
Marianne Grant’s new identity as a governess is meant to keep her safe. But then she meets her new employer, Ash, Earl of Kingswood, and she immediately knows his handsome good looks are a danger of their own! Brusque on first meeting, Ash quickly shows his compassionate side. Yet Marianne doesn’t dare reveal the truth! Unless Ash really could be the safe haven she’s been looking for…
