Title: My Perfect Summer in Greece
Tag: Family, Friendships and New Beginnings.
Author: Ian Wilfred
Cheryl is excited her sister Julie has asked for her help in organising her wedding but things aren’t turning out the way Cheryl had hoped. There’s going to be no little village church and no bridesmaids dress; the wedding is taking place on the Greek island of Holkamos.
Vangelis has the perfect beach location for a wedding but his little beach cafe has never catered for weddings before. Will he be able to cope with all of Julie’s demands?
Andréas has moved back to Holkamos to help run the family gift shop after the death of his father. The business has to move with the times but will his mum allow things to change?
Johnny is Cheryl’s best friend. He doesn’t like the way Julie treats her and has a plan to put things right but is it the right thing for Cheryl and what happens when they both arrive on the Greek island. Could it become more than just a weekend wedding for Cheryl and Johnny?
I absolutely loved reading this story! It begins with Cheryl going home to help organise her the wedding of her sister, Julie. However, Julie is the sort of sister I’d definitely rather not have – she’s self-opinionated, rude and makes derogatory comments about Cheryl, her appearance and ideas. It seems their childhood plans of a wedding in their village church are no more and Julie is getting married on the Greek island of Holkamos . . . . Neither of them realise just how life changing this will prove to be for Cheryl!
The author takes you into the story from the very beginning and brings to life the beautiful island of Holkamos and the people there in the imagination of the reader. My favourite character just has to be Johnny, a work colleague and best friend of Cheryl, who helps her provide a surprise transformation for the wedding. Everyone would benefit from someone like Johnny in their life!
The wedding takes place in a little beach cafe run by Vangelis and this is his first ever wedding. He likes how organised Cheryl is about it all and the experience prompts him to consider catering to more weddings in future. There’s also an artist, Andréas, who has moved back to Holkamos to help his Mum run the family gift shop after the death of his father. Cheryl goes from having a friend’s with benefits relationship to having three men vying for her, but will one of them prove that love will find a way?
It really felt as though I was there, enjoying the sights, delicious food, wine and all the people. The characters are diverse, well developed and it is easy to develop strong feelings towards many of them – I loved some and really didn’t like others . . . and others I changed my mind about as the story progressed. Wait to you discover the determined Greek mother! There’s more than one romance in this delightful story and I thoroughly enjoyed reading how the relationships developed. It is a gorgeous, heartwarming read that I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending – go grab yourself a copy to share this great Greek adventure and romance from Amazon!
Whilst you’re there, I recommend checking out some of his other books – they’re on offer at just 99p each or for free on Kindle Unlimited at the moment!
