A Bakery at the Little Duck Pond Cafe

Ellie’s dreams of opening a bakery in Sunnybrook are finally coming true and best friends Fen and Jaz are happily rallying round, helping her to plan a fabulous grand opening day. Everything in their garden seems to be rosy – until the arrival of a newcomer brings chaos to the village and tests relationships to the limit. Can the bakery succeed in the face of such upheaval? And more importantly, can firm friendships survive?

My Review:

When heartbroken Katja Skoroboganova jokingly fills in a job application in the name of Kate Baker, she had no intention of really applying for the job but her Gran posts it and Katja is interviewed and gets the job! She moves to Sunnybrook and starts working at the Bakery at the Little Duck Pond. However, there’s another new starter, one who reminds Katja of the girls who bullied her throughout her school life. Will the two be friends or foes?

It is great to return to this delightful community but I suspect that even if you haven’t read any of the earlier books in this series you can still thoroughly enjoy this one. The small community is brought to life as Katja/Kate settles in and meets them – including someone who starts off making a bad impression but redeems himself later. There’s secrets, money problems, accidents, a lovely puppy to be rescued and events to organise as they work together to promote the Bakery at the Little Duck Pond Cafe.

With dilemmas, dramas, a lovely little girl, a cute puppy and several romances developing, this is a heartwarming story of overcoming past hurts and moving on to a more hopeful future. It is great to see the community through to eyes of Katja and her background certainly adds to the whole story. It is a great novella, packed with humour and love, that is a well written, easy, relaxing read – fantastic to escape into! I have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys romantic comedies.

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Author Bio

Rosie Green has been scribbling stories ever since she was little. Back then they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’. Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all, unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love.

Rosie’s brand new series of novellas is centred on life in a village café. Confetti at the Little Duck Pond Cafe will be the sixth in the series
