My Review

I’ll start with the warning that this is a werewolf/shifter romance with extremely steamy/erotica scenes, including a graphically described, brutal gang rape. If that’s a trigger for you, don’t bother reading this book.

I did like the explanations of the hierarchy of werewolves, their governance, rules and justice systems. The author has set up and explained a system that can easily lead into future stories, but the prevalence of erotic descriptions seemed inappropriate as the mystery/adventure aspect of the plot warranted more emphasis. It also has some bits that just didn’t sit well with me, such as how the victim was obviously traumatised by the experience yet had no hesitation in accepting that Zach’s her mate and doesn’t have any of the anxieties you’d expect a rape victim to have, in fact is an eager participant in consummating (repeatedly) their relationship. Personally, the story has too much emphasis and detail on that side of their relationship and this detracts from what is potentially a great start to a new series. However, that is a very personal point of view and others may well love all aspects of reading this book!
