Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!
Candice Summerville is invisible. No one seems to notice her – not really. Heck, she often doesn’t notice herself, except for her monthly scrutiny in the mirror to check on her body’s steady slide towards middle age.
But when her ancient, practical estate car is consigned to the scrap heap, Candice falls in love with a cute, purple convertible, and from that moment on her life begins to take on a whole new meaning. Strangers wave at her and people stop to talk, and suddenly she isn’t invisible any longer.
Life seems to be looking up, especially when she meets silver fox and handy-man, Paul. There’s just one fly in the ointment, one thing she that has her second-guessing herself.
Is it the car that Paul sees – or is it her?
This is a fun read with great characters and the car is the star for much of it.
Candice Summerville’s husband left her a decade ago when their sons were thirteen and fifteen years old. She feels like he traded her in for a newer model…. Since then, she’s not really made anything with her life, slipping into something like rut. All that changes, however, when her trusted Ford breaks down and is declared too expensive to repair. She needs a newer car! That’s when she falls in love with the jelly bean – a purple Mazda convertible. Now she’s noticed wherever she drives, people wave as she goes by or chat when she’s parked. She also decides to make other changes in her life and joins a Yoga class – where she meets Paul, who asks her to join him for a drink . . . . Is this the start of something or is it just her car that he admires?
This is a romantic comedy filled with hopes, dreams, second chances and love. It is a story of starting again, making the most of yourself and your opportunities as well as taking a chance on love. If you’re looking for a summery romance with a not-so-young couple at the heart of it, look no further! This is a feel-good read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
Author Bio –
Liz Davies writes feel-good, light-hearted stories with a hefty dose of romance, a smattering of humour, and a great deal of love.
She’s married to her best friend, has one grown-up daughter, and when she isn’t scribbling away in the notepad she carries with her everywhere (just in case inspiration strikes), you’ll find her searching for that perfect pair of shoes. She loves to cook but isn’t very good at it, and loves to eat – she’s much better at that! Liz also enjoys walking (preferably on the flat), cycling (also on the flat), and lots of sitting around in the garden on warm, sunny days.
She currently lives with her family in Wales, but would ideally love to buy a camper van and travel the world in it.
